The debut of our Letter-Writing Installation

MAY 17 – 19, 2019

This past May we partnered with Maker Faire to invite and inspire attendees to create good ole fashioned letters as a way to “make” someone’s day. Because we believe that a compliment to the digital is joy and appreciation for the physical!
Surrounding a large, free-standing mailbox (with it’s door open and flag up) attendees found all the supplies needed to participate: greeting cards… custom stationery… envelopes… vintage postage stamps… rubber ink stamps… pens… and even an ensemble of working manual typewriters from the 1920’s and 30s!
Admittedly, we weren’t sure what the reaction was going to be. Turns out we were slammed and completely ran out of all 1,000 sheets of stationery by Sunday afternoon! There also wasn’t an idle typewriter from the start on Friday to the close of the event end of day Sunday. Attendees loved it. Young and old. Female and male. By the end of the event, the mailbox was filled with hundreds of letters that rippled out into the world.
